Yorkville University’s General Bachelor of Business Administration online degree is offered out of Vancouver, British Columbia and Fredericton, New Brunswick. Domestic and international students have the same admissions requirements and tuition and fees.

Conditional Admission

Applicants with English language proficiency scores that fall below the standards required for admission, may be considered for conditional admission in the following circumstances:

IELTS score (or equivalent)

6.5 and above: students will enroll in the regular academic program.
6.0 to less than 6.5: students will enroll in the regular academic program and in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course in Term 1.

The EAP course (ENGL180) is available at select campuses concurrently as part of Yorkville University’s programs and counts towards the completion of the degree. There is no additional cost to the program when students take the EAP course.

Location: Fredericton

The BBA online degree administered through our Fredericton Campus is currently offered as a degree-completion program for students with some prior post-secondary education experience.

Students may transfer up to 60 credits towards the BBA degree from other academic programs and courses.

Students are required to provide:

Proof of completion of a minimum of nine post-secondary education credits from a recognized college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.0

Applicants admitted under this provision must achieve a grade of at least “C” on each of their first three courses taken at Yorkville University. Failure to meet this condition will result in academic dismissal from the university.

Yorkville University’s online Bachelor of Interior Design is offered out of Toronto, Ontario. An applicant may be admitted to the Bachelor of Creative Arts degree program if they meet one of the following sets of requirements:

Admission Path 1

Completion in good academic standing of a two-year (four-term) diploma from a Canadian college of applied arts and technology or private career college legally recognized in the applicant’s home province (or the equivalent from a post-secondary education institution legally recognized in a jurisdiction outside Canada).
The diploma must have been earned in one of the creative arts, which include but may not be limited to: music, dance, drama and theatre, writing, interior design and decorating, painting, sculpture, photography, graphics and computer graphics, animation, game design, crafts, industrial design, fashion and costume design, motion pictures, television, radio, video, sound recording.
The applicant must have graduated with a GPA of at least 2.0 (or the equivalent).
Equivalent credentials earned in a country other than Canada are accepted.

 Admission Path 2

Completion in good academic standing of a three-year (six-term) diploma from a Canadian college of applied arts and technology or private career college legally recognized in the applicant’s home province (or the equivalent from a post-secondary education institution legally recognized in a jurisdiction outside Canada). 
The diploma must have been earned in one of the creative arts, which include but may not be limited to: music, dance, drama and theatre, writing, interior design and decorating, painting, sculpture, photography, graphics and computer graphics, animation, game design, crafts, industrial design, fashion and costume design, motion pictures, television, radio, video, sound recording.
 The applicant must have graduated with a GPA of at least 2.0 (or the equivalent).

AND one of:

The completion of the equivalent of six credits of studio/applied course work in the applicant’s creative arts specialization or a closely related field over and above course work completed to earn the qualifying diploma;
- Courses must have been completed at a public university, college of applied arts and technology, or private career college legally recognized in the applicant’s home province or country;
- A grade of at least C must have been earned in the studio/applied courses;
- Students who have not completed six semester hours of additional studio/applied credits but have met other admission requirements may satisfy this admission requirement by agreeing to complete up to two studio/applied arts courses at Yorkville University. (The specific courses will be decided on a case-by-case basis.)

Six months’ professional, applied, and/or employment experience in the applicant’s area of creative arts expertise.

AND

Completion of nine semester hours of university-level undergraduate study.
- Courses must have been completed at a public or private university legally recognized in the applicant’s home province or country.
- Courses must cover at least two of the following broad areas of study: social sciences, humanities, sciences (including mathematics), and fine arts.
- A grade of at least C must have been earned in each of the courses.
- Students who have not completed nine semester hours of university-level undergraduate study but have met other admission requirements may satisfy this admission requirement by agreeing to complete additional breadth courses at Yorkville University.

English Language Proficiency

Applicants seeking to establish English language proficiency by providing TOEFL, IELTS, or CAEL scores (or scores from other tests of English language proficiency recognized by the university) but whose scores fall below the standards required for admission may be considered for conditional admission in the following circumstances: they meet all other requirements for admission; their scores meet or are equivalent to at least the following standards – TOEFL 65; IELTS 6.5; CAEL 50.

Note that if you did not complete either your secondary education or your qualifying diploma where English was the language of instruction, you will be required to show proficiency in English sufficient for post-secondary study. Such proficiency may be established in one of the following ways:*

*In all cases, the university reserves the right to require proof of language proficiency before permission will be granted to register in academic courses. Applicants from countries where English is the language of instruction, but is not the primary language of the general population, may be asked to demonstrate English-language proficiency.

For applicants seeking admission on the basis of 4-term diploma plus additional experience, evidence of the additional experience in the form of portfolios, catalogues, publications, reviews, testimonials, and/or employer references.

Bachelor of Creative Arts

An applicant may be admitted to the Bachelor of Creative Arts degree program if they meet one of the following sets of requirements:

Admission Path 1

Completion in good academic standing of a three-year (six-term) diploma from a Canadian college of applied arts and technology or private career college legally recognized in the applicant’s home province (or the equivalent from a post-secondary education institution legally recognized in a jurisdiction outside Canada).
- The diploma must have been earned in one of the creative arts, which include but may not be limited to: music, dance, drama and theatre, writing, interior design and decorating, painting, sculpture, photography, graphics and computer graphics, animation, game design, crafts, industrial design, fashion and costume design, motion pictures, television, radio, video, sound recording.
- The applicant must have graduated with a GPA of at least 2.0 (or the equivalent).
- Equivalent credentials earned in a country other than Canada are accepted.

Admission Path 2

Completion in good academic standing of a two-year (four-term) diploma from a Canadian college of applied arts and technology or private career college legally recognized in the applicant’s home province (or the equivalent from a post-secondary education institution legally recognized in a jurisdiction outside Canada).
- The diploma must have been earned in one of the creative arts, which include but may not be limited to: music, dance, drama and theatre, writing, interior design and decorating, painting, sculpture, photography, graphics and computer graphics, animation, game design, crafts, industrial design, fashion and costume design, motion pictures, television, radio, video, sound recording.
- The applicant must have graduated with a GPA of at least 2.0 (or the equivalent).

AND one of:

The completion of the equivalent of six credits of studio/applied course work in the applicant’s creative arts specialization or a closely related field over and above course work completed to earn the qualifying diploma;
- Courses must have been completed at a public university, college of applied arts and technology, or private career college legally recognized in the applicant’s home province or country;
- A grade of at least C must have been earned in the studio/applied courses;
- Students who have not completed six semester hours of additional studio/applied credits but have met other admission requirements may satisfy this admission requirement by agreeing to complete up to two studio/applied arts courses at Yorkville University. (The specific courses will be decided on a case-by-case basis.)

Six months’ professional, applied, and/or employment experience in the applicant’s area of creative arts expertise.

AND

Completion of nine semester hours of university-level undergraduate study.
- Courses must have been completed at a public or private university legally recognized in the applicant’s home province or country.
- Courses must cover at least two of the following broad areas of study: social sciences, humanities, sciences (including mathematics), and fine arts.
- A grade of at least C must have been earned in each of the courses.
- Students who have not completed nine semester hours of university-level undergraduate study but have met other admission requirements may satisfy this admission requirement by agreeing to complete additional breadth courses at Yorkville University.

Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy

Yorkville University’s Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy is offered online out of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Applicants to the Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy program are required to provide the following:

Official undergraduate transcript and proof of a master’s degree*
Registry or certification in counselling or psychotherapy or a related field or status as a qualifying member
Proof of two years of post-master’s counselling experience
Resume and a 700- to 1000-word letter of intent
Two letters of reference from professional or academic sources
Completed online application
A sample of the applicant’s academic or professional writing
Application fee of $150 (CAD)

In addition, applicants are required to have:

A master’s program cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 or a 4.3 scale, or the equivalent on other grading scales. Some applicants may be admitted on a probationary basis if their cumulative GPA is between 3.0 and 3.3.
The clinical training component of the program requires students to be professionally active and have clients. Normally, this requirement is met by the applicant being employed as a counsellor or psychotherapist, either full-time or part-time. Alternatively, the applicant might be professionally active as a full- or part-time volunteer counsellor or psychotherapist.

A master’s degree in counselling, psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy, pastoral counselling, applied psychology, education, nursing, occupational therapy, and social work, or an equivalent credential from a recognized university.

Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology

Yorkville University’s Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology is offered online out of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Applicants to the MACP program are required to provide the following:

Accordingly, we are pleased to accept applications from prospective students that meet the criteria in one of the following admissions pathways. These pathways ensure prospective students are prepared for graduate courses in the MACP program and subsequent practicum.

PATHWAY I

Undergraduate Study with a transferrable major (psychology, nursing, social work, sociology, human development, education).

Expected to include:

Biological bases of behavior (e.g., physiological psychology, comparative psychology, neuropsychology, psychopharmacology).
Cognitive-affective bases of behavior (e.g., learning, sensation, perception, cognition, thinking, motivation, emotion).
Social basis of behavior (e.g., social psychology; cultural, ethnic, and group processes; sex roles; organizational and systems theory).
Individual behavior (e.g., personality theory, human development, individual differences, abnormal psychology).

PATHWAY II

Non-transferrable major with a transferrable minor.

PATHWAY III

Non-transferrable major or minor, with some (at least 2 courses with C grade or higher) transferrable post-secondary university courses/credits completed.

Pathway IV

Non-transferable undergraduate degree with appropriate hours of training/certification:  minimum of 1-year, post-graduate certificate (or diploma) program at a university or college.

Appropriate areas: psychology, sociology, social work, neuroscience, counseling, mental health, drug/alcohol treatment, mediation, organizational behavior/psychology, criminal justice, human resources, children/youth/families, community services, nursing/elder care.

PATHWAY V

Non-transferable undergraduate degree with a minimum of 150 hours of relevant work/volunteer experience. Applicants who may need to apply through this pathway can access the MACP relevant work/volunteer attestation form here.

Graduate Certificate in Education: Teaching and Learning

Yorkville University’s Graduate Certificate in Education (GCE): Leadership in Social Justice is offered online out of Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Applicants to the GCE: Leadership in Social Justice are required to provide the following:

Official undergraduate transcript and proof of obtainment of a bachelor’s degree*
Resume and statement of interest
Detailed course descriptions if applying for transfer credits
Two letters of reference from professional or academic sources
Completed online application
Application fee of $150 (CAD)

*All official transcripts need to be sealed, stamped and sent directly from the issuing institution to our Admissions Services Department for evaluation.

In addition, applicants are required to have:

A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in undergraduate study of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 or 4.3 scale, or a GPA of at least 3.0 in the final two years of study. Applicants may be conditionally admitted with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 if strength of overall application is sufficient.

Do I need a study permit to attend Yorkville University?

If you are an international student, a study permit must be obtained before classes start. The study permit can be applied for online, at a Canadian consular office abroad, or in Canada. Please see here for more information.

Can I apply for a PGWP if I study at Yorkville University?

International students who continuously study full time on campus for the majority of their courses and graduate may also apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which can be valid for up to three years and offers a path to permanent residency status in Canada. A student’s spouse or common-law partner may also apply for an open work permit. Please see here for more information.

Can I work part time if I am an international student?

As a condition of their study permit, international students who study on campus may be eligible to work part time up to 20 hours per week during semester and up to 30 hours per week study during break periods.

How is it possible to shorten my program duration?

If you have previous post-secondary education or military service, you can apply for transfer credits toward completion of your program.

For some programs, students can also use an approved term break to study year-round instead of having an academic term off. Please contact an Admissions Advisor below for more information.

Can I substitute online courses for on-campus courses and vice versa?

International students are only eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) if they have continuously studied full-time in Canada with more than 50 percent of their studies completed on campus. What are your online degree programs like?

Small class sizes, group learning modules and a robust online community provide an enhanced learning environment for our online students. You can expect to interact, share experiences and learn new knowledge and skills with peers from similar backgrounds as well as experienced faculty who can offer career advice and networking opportunities.

Our online degrees are popular, because they allow students to study at home, at work or even while commuting.

What is it like to study on campus?

Our on-campus programs are offered in Vancouver and Toronto, which are vibrant, multicultural cities that offer incredible student life experiences. Studying on campus is a great way to make new friends and develop life-long relationships with peers and faculty.

Students who study on campus also benefit from small class sizes, team building exercises and being part of an enhanced classroom learning experience.

Does Yorkville University have on-campus housing accommodations?
