Eileen is a senior academic leader with experience in both the private and public sectors. Her experience includes teaching and administrative roles in all levels of the educational system: K-12, university, executive education and the college system.
Eileen most recently served as the Vice President, Academic at George Brown College (GBC). In this role, she led the College’s strategic academic transformation and guided the development and renewal of curriculum and programming. Eileen successfully coordinated efforts across academic units to deliver a wide range of initiatives and milestones that have significantly advanced the College’s academic mission. Among her key contributions, Eileen delivered:
– The development of GBC’s current Academic Plan, centered on innovation, enhancement of the student and faculty learning community, and strategic initiatives to raise the profile of GBC’s faculty;
– Prioritized the development of an institutional framework to advance the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and foster an evidence-based approach to pedagogy;
– Initiated the development of numerous new academic programs, including GBC’s first Master’s-level Graduate Program proposal, marking a significant evolution in the College’s academic profile;
– Renewed GBC’s approach to Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) to enhance the student experience and established a Task Force on Academic Integrity to review and recommend institutional improvements, reinforcing GBC’s commitment to academic standards;
– Realigned the academic schools to improve governance, collaboration, and delivery, and conducted a system-wide comparative and gap analysis of academic policies, ensuring responsiveness to emerging needs;
– Implemented dedicated positions to support Indigenous curriculum and pedagogy, reinforcing the College’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and Indigenization; and
– Coordinated the institutional response to the enrolment crisis in collaboration with the Registrar’s Office, Academic Deans, and cross-functional teams.
Prior to joining GBC, Eileen held leadership positions as the Senior Vice President Academic at St. Lawrence College, and the Associate Vice President, Academic Teaching and Learning at Humber Polytechnic.
Eileen is passionately dedicated to education, lifelong learning, academic excellence and student success. She is committed to creating learning environments that reflect the best elements of faculty expertise, industry/community partnerships, and the use of emerging technologies.
Eileen holds a PhD in Curriculum and Pedagogy from the University of Toronto, Ontario Institute of Studies in Education; a Master of Arts in Education from Central Michigan University; Bachelor of Education from Brock University; and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph.
Her research focus is on the contextual factors as affordances or constraints to innovation in teaching and learning, curriculum theory and practice, teaching in socio-technical institutions, the student experience and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
