Dr. Leili Heidema

Dr. Leili Heidema is a faculty member at Yorkville University, teaching in both the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) and the Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy (DCP) programs. She is the Course Lead for Ethics (MACP PSYC/P 6203) and brings expertise in professional ethics, including serving on the CCPA Ethics Committee – complaints division, as Chair of the Ethics Committee of a regional health authority, and as a member of the working group that established the first ethics framework and committee for the Government of the Northwest Territories.

Dr. Heidema is a Registered Psychologist in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. She holds a Doctor of Psychology degree from California Southern University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Adler University.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Heidema maintains an active group practice, providing trauma-focused and couples counselling. She is a certified EMDR therapist and integrates an eclectic, evidence-informed approach to treatment. Dr. Heidema has15 years of experience in the public sector, where she managed multidisciplinary mental health teams in remote regions, including medical social work, child and youth counselling, and community-based mental health services.
