800 Grads expected Canadawide at Ceremony in Fredericton

Fredericton, N.B. – On June 23, Yorkville University will welcome 180 graduates from all over Canada and beyond, to the 2017 Graduation Ceremony in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This record attendance is just one more milestone in a year of firsts for this national school that first opened its doors in Fredericton in 2004.

“I’m excited that so many of our graduates will join us in Fredericton for this celebration.   This is the faculty and administration’s chance to congratulate them personally and to thank them for their contributions to their professions and to the University’s growing national reputation,” said Dr. Rick Davey, President of Yorkville University.

Yorkville opened 12 years ago in New Brunswick with one program and a small campus on Smythe Street. It now has three campuses: Woodside Lane in Fredericton, Vancouver British Columbia and Concord, Ontario. The school has grown to offer a number of outstanding programs, both online and in-class, at the bachelor and master level.

On Friday, June 23 Yorkville will host the nearly 800 people, graduates and their families, making this the largest graduation ceremony in the school’s history.  Also during the ceremony, the school will grant its first honourary degree, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, to Hartley J. Nichol. Hartley, who passed away earlier this year, was a leader in Canada’s education and training sectors. He is the former chairman of Yorkville’s Board of Governors.

This historic graduation ceremony takes place at 2 p.m. at the Delta Fredericton, 225 Woodstock Road. Following which, Yorkville will host its first official alumni gathering in New Brunswick, a celebration and dance in the ballroom at the Delta.
