Toronto Graduate’s BBA Paves the Way for Promotion and Self-Actualization

“I don’t want to say that I was in a rut,” said Senior IT analyst Hubert Wong, about his career prior to enrolling at Yorkville University, “but I wasn’t developing the way I had hoped.  I had a plethora of certifications, but again, I felt like I was pigeonholing myself just in technology and nothing else.”

The value of Wong’s BBA was confirmed, when only two weeks after graduating from Yorkville, he received a promotion to the position of Senior IT Analyst of Global Maintenance at the US-based insurance company where he works.

“Almost every business course at Yorkville applied directly to what I was doing and more, and allowed me to attain the senior IT analyst position,” said Wong.

For the Toronto resident and father of two, acquiring his degree was an important step towards not only moving up in his career,  but fulfilling a longstanding personal goal.

“This was a bucket list [item], getting my BBA,” said Wong. “A lot of things I checked off in my life that I’m proud of, and this is one of the things I’m most proud of.”

“I’ve been at school before and I’ve done certifications for my job, and I have a young family.” Wong reflected. “Doing [my BBA at] Yorkville while working is very challenging, but it’s attainable. That’s what I want people to understand.  The hardest part about the program is that you just have to commit.”
