BBA On Campus

Yorkville University Toronto campus tour by BBA Student Reeth Mazumder

For Reeth Mazumder, the decision to leap directly from screenwriting studies into a business bachelors felt like a natural “evolution.

The multi-tasking Bollywood star recently wrapped up her Writing for Film & TV Diploma at Toronto Film School and didn’t waste any time enrolling in Yorkville University’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), with a specialization in Project Management

When I came to Toronto and I was trying this course as a writer, it was a shift, it was a change. It was a different me, learning a different thing,” Mazumder said.  Now, with this new course, I’m excited. I’m excited to be a part of a project management course because it is probably going to create another different self of me.”

Mazumder said she opted to go with Yorkville University, Toronto to make that transition because of its close connection with Toronto Film School.

Yorkville was the best option for me, because Yorkville University and Toronto Film School are associated together and I could have my credits transferred,” she said. “So, it was easy. It was like living in the same family.”

While her time at Toronto Film School was a fruitful one creatively (she made five films over the course of the 18-month program), Mazumder anticipates her complementary business studies at Yorkville University will make her that much more employable in the entertainment industry.

My experience in the writing program was, like, amazing. I’ve grown as a person, I’ve grown as a writer, I’ve grown as a director…I decided to enroll in the BBA program at Yorkville University, because I think, in some way, I didn’t want my journey to stop there,” she said.

I also think this program is going to help me get a job in a production company or in a studio because it’s a good thing to learnCreatively, I have learned a lot of things, but what if I also want to own a business? Through this course, I will learn to handle projects, because it’s project management.”

Never one to remain idle for long, Mazumder is spending her downtime between wrapping up at Toronto Film School and beginning her BBA studies at Yorkville University Toronto in July by co-directing a Bollywood crossover feature film with a producer from California.

“I like these new things in life, because there is not just one thing that I like. I like to do many things in life, so that’s what excites me,” she said.

“I feel I’m growing, I’m evolving with things that I’m learning, and I think all my life I would like to learn, so this is great for me.”
