Associate Dean, Bachelor of Business Administration

Yorkville University has an opening for a part time (0.5 FTE) Associate Dean, Bachelor of Business Administration program.

Reporting to the Dean of Business, the Associate Dean contributes to the leadership for planning, quality assurance, and academic operations, of the program, and plays a leadership role with respect to policies and procedures relating to faculty recruitment, development, and performance.

The Associate Dean supports the governance structure of both the program, and as required, the University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Academic Leadership

  • Support the Dean in the development and management of the BBA program.
  • Contribute to the governance of the program through membership on program level and university wide committees, including Senate.
  • Develop and present strategies and practices for effective recruitment, development, and review of faculty members.
  • Develop and present strategies and practices to improve instruction and student satisfaction; compile data from and prepare analyses of student end-of-course surveys.

Academic Operations

  • Chair the Faculty Hiring and Development committee and ensure that new faculty members meet all hiring requirements, including completion of the faculty training workshop.
  • Maintain faculty files as required by University policy.
  • Supervise issuing of contracts for faculty and subject area coordinators (SACs).
  • Manage the faculty performance review process in which BBA faculty are reviewed once every two years.
  • Coordinate faculty timetabling each semester.
  • Assist the Dean with student grievances, particularly as they relate to faculty performance
  • Monitor currency and accuracy of the student handbook and faculty handbook.
  • Contribute to preparation for periodic institutional and program reviews, both internal and those conducted by the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission
  • Use the existing committee structure to affect intra- and inter-Faculty communications

 

POSITION PROFILE

  • A minimum of a Masters degree in business management or a closely related field.
  • Academic and professional experience commensurate with a position as a leader and senior academic administrator.
  • Relevant experience in a post-secondary education environment, including program development, program accreditation, regulatory affairs, quality assurance practices, student and faculty policies.
  • A strong commitment to post-secondary professional education, particularly for working adult learners
  • Understanding of, and experience in, online teaching and learning at the university level
  • A record of academic and/or professional accomplishment
  • Understanding of and commitment to academic policy and procedures at the university level
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in writing and orally in the English language
  • Understanding of and commitment to collegial academic governance and management
