At a minimum, Yorkville University students should have a DSL, Cable or equivalent connection to the Internet, email capability, and access to one of the following web browsers:
Note: Yorkville does not recommend using other browsers such as Google Chrome or Safari. Students without Internet Explorer or Firefox will not have the toolbar enabling them to add bold, italics, or underlining to text in forums. Students using an Apple computer who desire these capabilities, should use Mozilla Firefox, which is available for free download online.
Students should have a computer capable of accessing the Internet; a Pentium 4 or a newer Macintosh computer should suffice. Students should have experience using email and browsing web pages.
Up-to-date anti-virus software is also highly recommended. AVGFree is a good anti-virus program, which is free for personal use.
Finally, students will need word processing software (such Microsoft Word) and other software tools to submit assignments electronically. Students who do not have Microsoft office may want to download the OpenOffice platform, which is also available online, free of charge.
