Can I transfer credits earned from other university programs?
Advanced standing or transfer credits may be provided to students for graduate courses completed at other institutions provided the course is comparable to a course offered by Yorkville University and the following conditions have been met:
- The student has been accepted into the Master of Education program and has been issued a letter of admission
- The student has achieved a grade on the proposed transfer course that is equivalent to or higher than the passing grade normally required of students in a Yorkville University program (i.e., C+ or higher)
- The Office of the Dean of Education approves the transfer credit.
Transfer credit is normally limited to a maximum of three academic courses. No transfer credit is provided for field-based Practicum courses or for the Major Academic Report.
Students must provide an official transcript showing the grade obtained in the course proposed for transfer and a detailed outline of the course. Transfer credits are accepted from recognized degree programs at Canadian universities and from accredited USA degree-granting institutions with transfer agreements with appropriate state universities. Transfer credits are also accepted for graduate courses completed at educational institutions outside of North America. Where equivalency is difficult to substantiate, additional documentary evidence may be required from an agency qualified to verify equivalency.
Students may apply to register in Yorkville University courses without completing the full admission process. Such non-degree (or unspecified) students may request transfer of course credits to a Yorkville University degree program provided they complete the full admissions process and the transfer is approved by the Dean of Education. No guarantee can be made in advance that such a transfer of credit will be approved.
Please contact the Admissions Office with more questions about transfer credit: 1-866-838-6542

Do I have to travel to New Brunswick to complete my program?
All of Yorkville University programs can be completed in the student’s home community. The Master of Education program is offered through an online/blended delivery method. The blended delivery refers to the Practicum course that is arranged by Yorkville University’s Director of Field Services with a supervisor in the student’s home community. Apart from the Practicum, all courses are offered online. The entire program is offered over six (6) trimesters and takes 24 months to complete.
Why are courses offered one at a time?
Most of the students attending Yorkville University hold full time jobs and are attracted to the quality of the program and the fact that they do not have to sacrifice work or family commitments to complete the program. The reason for scheduling course one at a time is that working students find it easier to manage such a course load.

On receipt of the completed application, including the non-refundable deposit, the University evaluates the application submitted. Each applicant will be informed of the University’s decision by both letter and email.
Is Yorkville University accredited?

A student wishing to obtain accreditation for the degree program must consult the professional organization to which he or she wishes to be admitted or the educational institution where he or she wishes to be employed.
