Professional Designations for MACP Graduates
The following professional designations are available for graduates of Yorkville University’s Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program.
BCACC – MACP graduates are eligible to apply for membership and Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) status through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). Individuals from any province in Canada are eligible to obtain RCC designation and secure liability insurance through this association.
OACCPP – MACP graduates are eligible to apply for membership with the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP) and obtain liability insurance through this association. Recent changes to legislation have created a new Ontario College of Psychotherapists. Yorkville University is confident that MACP graduates will be eligible to join this new college.
Education Counselling – In New Brunswick, the MACP program is approved for teacher certification (cert 4-5 or 5-6). Students residing in other provinces must check the requirements from their individual school districts or school board. This program also meets the required criteria for guidance counselors in NB. If outside of New Brunswick, please check your local school board for details on their criteria.
American Counselling Association – Graduates of the MACP program are able to apply for membership with the American Counseling Association.
American College of Counselors – MACP graduates are eligible to apply for membership in the American College of Counselors (ACCA).
British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) – Yorkville University is an institutional member of the BACP. Graduates of Yorkville University’s MACP program are eligible to apply for membership with the BACP.
