Faculty of Behavioural Sciences
Based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences offers the following graduate level program in the field of Counselling Psychology:
A primary goal of the Faculty is to contribute to the worldwide training of competent and ethical mental health care practitioners who will enrich the societies in which they live as they help others cope with the stresses of modern life.
The aim of the Faculty is to ensure that students acquire the advanced and specialized knowledge and develop the conceptual skills and intellectual creativity consistent with graduate level qualification in professional counselling.
The pedagogical objective is to provide students with a sound foundation in the theory and practice of professional counselling.
In March 2004, Yorkville University was approved under the Degree Granting Act of New Brunswick. Shortly thereafter, the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences was established to deliver the MA program. Today, the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences consists of more than twenty-five teaching faculty, all having completed doctoral studies in the field of counselling/psychology.
