Chair, Interior Design Programs
In March 2011, RCC Institute of Technology was granted Ministerial Consent under the Ontario Post-secondary Education Choice and Excellence Act to offer a degree program leading to a Bachelor of Interior Design. The Bachelor’s program joins the Diploma program in Interior Design offered for many years by the Academy of Design at RCC Institute of Technology. The Bachelor of Interior Design is available to students through traditional in-class instruction, online, or by blended in-class and online delivery. It is the first Bachelor of Interior Design Program in Canada and only the third in North America to be offered fully online. Classes began in October 2011. Student interest is strong.
RCC Institute of Technology seeks a leader for these exciting and innovative programs. The Chair of Interior Design Programs will provide academic and professional leadership for the continued development and effective delivery of Interior Design programs at RCC Institute of Technology. The Chair is responsible for: ensuring quality, currency, and consistency in the development and delivery of the Interior Design curriculum both in-residence and on-line; hiring, training, mentoring, and monitoring faculty; scheduling faculty to develop and teach courses; providing faculty with resources needed for effective teaching; implementing academic and faculty policies; resolving student and faculty issues; liaising with industry professionals and accrediting and professional bodies to maintain standards of practice; and providing academic and professional advice to students.
The Chair of Interior Design Programs will possess a Master`s degree, have at least 5 years professional experience in the interior design industry, possess some experience teaching at the postsecondary level, and be in good standing with professional bodies and associations. Knowledge of and experience with accreditation would be an asset. The Chair will be a leader within a collegial environment and a public representative of the program and RCC Institute of Technology; excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required
