Is Yorkville University approved to offer degree programs in Canada?
Yorkville University is officially approved by the provincial governments of New Brunswick, Ontario, and British Columbia to offer degree programs. Additionally, Yorkville University is an approved DLI in both the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia.

Do I need a study permit to attend Yorkville University?
All international students must obtain a study permit before classes start. You can find all the information about eligibility, processes, and documents on the Government of Canada website.

Can I apply for a PGWP if I study at Yorkville University?
International students who continuously study full-time on campus for the majority of their courses and graduate may apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which can be valid for up to three years and offers a path to permanent residency status in Canada. A student’s spouse or common-law partner may also apply for an open work permit. Please see here for more information.

How is it possible to shorten my program duration?
Yorkville University operates year-round with four academic terms and intake periods. To shorten their program duration, students can study for four terms each year (instead of three) by not taking an approved term break.
If you have previous post-secondary education, you can also apply for transfer credits from past college or university courses toward completion of the program, which can further shorten your study time.

Can I substitute on-campus courses with online courses?
You may be able to substitute on-campus courses with online courses depending on availability.
However, for international students who would like to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) in Canada, at least 50% of total courses must be taken on campus with full-time student status.

What is it like to study on campus?
Studying on campus is a great way to make new friends and develop lifelong relationships with other students. Yorkville University has a vibrant international student community.

Can I work part time and still complete my degree?
During study periods, your study permit may allow you to work up to 20 hrs. per week or up to 40 hrs. per week during study breaks. You can find the most updated information here. Our Career Services team is a great resource for students to prepare for and find part-time jobs.

How much are living expenses?
Living expenses will vary depending on each student’s needs. Both Vancouver and Toronto are cities that offer more affordable living expenses and a higher quality of life than many cities in the U.S. and the U.K.

Does Yorkville University have on-campus accommodation?

Do I need health insurance?
Yes. All international students, who study in our on-campus programs, are automatically enrolled in a mandatory Health Insurance that renews yearly. You can learn more here.

Does Yorkville University offer any scholarships?

Can I apply for Canadian provincial student loans?
Only domestic students are eligible to apply to Canadian provincial student loan programs such as the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) or StudentAid BC.
